This walks’ suggestion takes you through the stunning architectural landscape of the Engadin Valley, where traditional and modern designs come together in harmony. The itinerary highlights several landmarks and buildings that respect the area’s heritage while introducing innovative designs that fit perfectly with the natural surroundings. Visitors will likely need a car, bicycle, or train to travel between towns. Below are some key highlights:
- Silvaplana: Visit Land Art at Albanatscha, by Ruch & Partners Architekten, a unique fusion of art and nature.
- St. Moritz: Chesa Futura (‘house of the future’ in Romansch) by Foster + Partners, emphasizes sustainability and local materials. The Old Olympic Stadium, redesigned by Küchel Architects, was once home to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 1948 Olympics. Cresta Run Clubhouse, a historic site updated with modern design.
